Hempstead, NY. The winners of the sixth annual Hofstra-Digital Remedy Venture Challenge were announced on April 20, 2018 at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. Brainchild of Hofstra alumni and Board of Trustees member, Mike Seiman, CEO and Chairman of Digital Remedy, the competition encourages and supports entrepreneurial spirit.
Students with unique business concepts are invited to compete for a portion of the $75k prize package to fund their ideas. With the support of Hofstra’s Entrepreneurs-in-Residence mentorship program, which includes a boot camp, strategy sessions, and pitch preparation, the field is whittled down to 10 finalists, each presenting five-minute pitches to the panel of judges.
Joining Mike Seiman as Venture Challenge judge were Digital Remedy Board Member Robert F. Hussey, WorkRails’ Co-founder James Droskoski, The Gemini Companies’ CEO Kevin Hesselbirg, and Accelerate NY Seed Fund’s Principal Noel Goddard.
After deliberation, MedAux was named the first-place winner, earning a $42k prize, and an exclusive digital marketing package complete with summer incubator space in the Digital Remedy Manhattan office. Founded by Elnaz Sarabchian, Ph. D and Behzad Jazayeri, MD, MedAux is a healthcare solution driven to reduce the number of hospital readmissions while still providing assistive care to patients.
Lawdio, law student Seema Rambaran’s instructional court case audio recording service, received $21k for the second place finish, and an additional $500 for the “People’s Choice” award.
The third and final spot of the competition rewarded medical student, and SteriLux garment sterilizer.
Digital Remedy offers its sincerest congratulations to each finalist, and its continued encouragement to all entrants—past and future—in their quest of shaping the future of entrepreneurialism.
